Here two pairs share equal top score EW of 450, 13 matchpoints out of 14, or 93%.

Two NS pairs also share top score because they defeated the contract.

Looking at the makeables we can see that EW can make 12 tricks in hearts, or 11 tricks in clubs.  But no-one managed to do this.   You need to run the Jack of spades, and if the Queen is played take the Ace and now finesse the 9.

Making 11 tricks in hearts was good enough for an equal top board, 10 tricks was above average.  Bidding clubs or spades was not a success.

Here some pairs were in a partscore.   1NT making 3 scores 150 which scores 10 out of 14 matchpoints, 71%, not bad.   140 is 57%.   110 is 43%.

3NT looks the normal contract, and 9 tricks are available.   Lose a club, make 4 clubs, 3 spades and two diamonds.   The defence should get four tricks, not 3 and not 5, but that's bridge, it depends which cards are played.

Three pairs went down, I assume they cashed the top spades too early.

One declarer made a bonus trick, possibly they got a trick with the jack of diamonds.

Contracts both ways, some succeeding, most failing.

West might open 1NT and play there.   8 tricks seems a stretch but 120 is a good result, 86%, beaten only because one NS pair played in clubs and went -200.

2C is possible, but if you're playing Stayman then you can't stop in 2C.

Some Wests may have opened 1D and North came into the bidding ?!  It looks like North doubled and South bid 2S which is makeable if you finesse twice in hearts.

So a variety of results at low levels, and every trick matters.   If you can make your contract then you get a positive score and above-average MPs.

Note also that both sides are vulnerable.   If NS weren't vulnerable then -50 would be better than letting EW make 1NT for 90.   All these little things make a difference.

An interesting hand because two NS pairs didn't bid.

"Passed In" creates a score of 0 for both sides, and then it depends what happens at other tables.   Here North should open 1D, but then it's hard to stop in 2S.

So 0 for NS is an equal top !

Note also that -50 is ok, but -100 is a bad result, every trick matters.
